2. IS NOW A GOOD TIME TO SELL OR BETTER TO BUY AND HOLD UNTIL NOVEMBER?
The question of whether 10500 and 2100 has strong support will be tested in early February,. With so much “good” news already built in, what will move markets further up other than new retirement tax contributions?  It is not likely that many companies will both exceed expectations and deliver a positive forward-looking outlook into the next earnings season. Ahead of tax time, will Dow 10,000 and Nas 1980 respectively hold?  There are several arguments against it. The primary one being same valuation!  Even the Pension Benefit Guarantee Corp is about to slash its investments in equities and buy more bonds in an effort to cut risk posed by today’s stock market. They recognize this may lower returns, but isn’t any positive return better than a future negative return using a 12-month horizon?

TRADERS:  MARKETS WILL BE LESS A ROLL COASTER THIS WEEK-TREND FOLLOW.
INVESTORS: NASDAQ WILL RUN OUT OF MORE “BIGGER FOOLS” OVER THE NEXT 10 DAYS. SELL “VALUE CHALLENGED” STOCKS IN YOUR PORTFOLIO.

DON’T BUY AND HOLD:  ELIMINATE MARGIN DEBT, BE HIGHLY LIQUID, AND KEEP A BALANCED AND DIVERSIFIED PORTFOLIO!
12/31/2003 EOD:    SPX   1111 DJIA 10453 NASDAQ 2003.
FAIR VALUE:        DJIA  <10,000,    NASDAQ  <2000, GOLD >400

3. Given our held view that technology stocks have climbed far faster than prospects for earnings growth, coupled with Nasdaq’s astrologically challenged February horoscope, we see far more short than long prospects.  However, there is also likely to be a brief tech rally beginning mid to late March.

4.KB Toys filed for chapter 11-bankruptcy protection in January. Historical Danish toymaker Lego just had its worst loss in its 72-year history. These colored plastic building blocks have been a favorite children’s toy. Is this the beginning of the end of childhood innocence, leaving most children only to buy at Walmart, Target and Toys ‘R’ US? Shares of Toys R Us [TOY] rose last Thursday after a Smith Barney analyst upgraded the stock to "hold" from "sell" and said he expected the retailer to announce a major restructuring.  The research report, by analyst Bill Sims, said the best strategy for Toys R Us is to close 100 to 200 underperforming U.S. toy stores, sell the real estate, and use the money to expand its Babies R Us and international divisions and return cash to shareholders. Because of intense price competition, it is going to be a long hard winter for toy retailers.  We will avoid this sector, at least until late summer or Dow 9400, whichever comes first.

Internet provider America Online settled a trademark dispute with Playboy Enterprises [PLA] after the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals backed Playboy in litigation dating back five years.   "A settlement has been reached on this pending litigation," said Nicholas Graham, a spokesman for AOL, the Virginia-based unit of Time Warner [TWX].  Playboy objected to the inclusion of playboy" and "playmate" in a list of 400 words, many of them explicit sexual expressions, that would trigger sex-oriented banner ads unrelated to Playboy, but not identified as sponsored by others.  This is obviously positive for TWX, which we feel will outperform many other media companies, e.g. DIS. We rate it a long term accumulate beginning 14-16. Despite Playboy’s legal victory, I see little reason to buy their essentially profit challenged company stock, except perhaps to frame it on the wall of one’s sport den.

5. “I see the dollar having another leg down. The only investor class that seems to have an appetite for U.S. investments at the moment is Asian central banks.''
Philip Suttle, global strategist, J.P. Morgan Chase
HW: Unfortunately this is true.

“The market has had a big move. Values are very iffy here and there. When U.S. Steel moves from $10 to $37, it's got to tell you something''
Michael Price, president, MFP Investors
HW: I get your message loud and clear.

6.  Value Line's forecast for the Dow in 2004
“Believe it or not, the following projections are made by an advisory service whose 2004 target for the Dow Jones Industrials Average is 9,400 -- some 1,200 points below where it closed on Tuesday.”
HW: I believe, I believe.

$TARS SAY WATCH FOR STOCK SLIP IN SPRING
“The astrological rub here: Venus represents value and Pluto represents debt, a dynamic any hardened Wall Streeter could see as potentially leading to a wave of bankruptcies.
Given the intensity of that opposition, Gerwick-Brodeur said, there's a "high probability" the stock market will crash. "I tell clients to be out of the stock market by April."

7. READER: 1 - Are we close to the bottom [for Gold]? HW: Yes close, but we may not there yet.
2 -Is this a good time to buy? HW: Perhaps. Bid under the market, depending on what you want to buy.
3 - How do metals look for the rest of the year?
HW:  Good for Mid-February to Mid-March, but NOT a buy and hold all year.

8. HERE WE TALK ABOUT AFUND CLIENTS
READER: Has IHI got any orders? Does it look like getting any?
HW: I cannot comment beyond what is announced in Company press releases. As to your second question, MOST DEFINITELY!

READER: I can only sincerely hope that Roger is able to really for himself as well get IHI on the Road. If he got allot of Canadian Orders etc I don't see why it couldn't run and get above the 2.00 by end of year especially if your Psychic forecast August as being the month it starts to go up permanently
HW: ALL IHI shareholders hold a similar hope.
