WALL STREET, NEXT WEEK: NOVEMBER 5, 2001
FINANCIAL ASTROLOGY FOR THE SUCCESSFUL INVESTOR AND TRADER

1. NOVEMBER MARKETS
2. UP STARS/DOWN STARS
3. ASTRONUT
4. QUOTES
5. ON THE WEB
6. LETTERS

1. HOW MUCH OF A CORRECTION AND WHEN?
Many astro-technical analysts expect markets to drop further in November. Thereafter, some are looking forward to the traditional XMAS rally, albeit more subdued than usual.  Economic activity is currently as low as we forecast it to go.  It is basing, and thereafter a slow climb up from here, with obviously more Winter/Spring 2002 fall out. We expect Monday’s Cisco (good) news to set the background tone for November.  However, economic activity is MUCH lower than the government has reported so far. It is clearly lower than 0.4% and closer to –2.4% in 3Q 2001.
I repeat, I believe THIS IS THE BOTTOM of the economic cycle and a good term for long term WSNW subscriber/investors to selectively accumulate more AFUND GLOBAL 12 stars picks.

The big danger over the next six months is to stocks and companies like NextCard (NXCD), which dropped 84 percent last Wednesday after saying it would reclassify certain "fraud losses" as "credit losses" and apply them to its loan loss reserves. I prefer to own cash rich, blue chip giants like C, GE and IBM, which I see as much safer long term investments.

THAT PESKY NORTHERN BORDER
The Canadian dollar was driven down to new all-time lows last week due to “poor economic news, the new softwood lumber tariff and drooping world commodity prices.” I say “BUY, BUY, BUY”. I will be visiting Toronto from November 10-16 seeing clients and exploring.  I have posted our 2002 CANADA portfolio for WSNW Subscribers and will be posting more of our 2002 global bourses and sectors views on our premium channels shortly.

KEYDATES:   November 5/6
DJIA:               --> 9625
NASDAQ:       1660-1810
SPX:                1084 Pivot/Support
XAU:                Continue long term accumulation
CD$:                BUY

Now THERE IS LIGHT AT END OF THE TUNNEL Saturn-Opposition Pluto ends May 2002!
INVESTORS: FALL 2002 markets will be HIGHER than today.

Read my top ten rules for a stellar performance, along with invaluable advice from 149 other master investors, in INVESTING RULES edited by Philip Jenks and Stephen Eckett and just published by Global-Investor in the UK and now available from our AFUND online bookstore .

2.  I have just finishing updating our 2002 forecast for the Dow Jones Industrial Average. WSNW subscribers please see 2002 DJIA and 2002 DJStoxx50 .  I have also finished my 2002 global stock market forecasts, which I will be giving subscribers next week and the public January 1.

DESERT ISLAND PLAYS
Planning on disappearing for 6 months or more?  If so, here are ten desert island plays to consider before your boat disembarks: C, DT, EWC, EWG, GE, IBM, IHITF*, MHX, SNE and UL.

3. Ananova - UK firm offers spooky insurance
“People worried about poltergeist attacks or alien abduction are being offered insurance cover by UK Ultraviolet. It will pay out up to £100,000 under its Spooksafe policy for death, injury or damage to personal affects caused by a ghost or poltergeist. The policy will cover the cost of an attack by a ghost, an encounter with visitors from outer space or even the consequences of being turned into a werewolf or vampire.”
It has written around 500 policies in 2001, not surprisingly mainly in California and even paid out £100,000 on one of the policies for a woman who died after being thrown over the banisters, when a team of investigators concluded a ghost was responsible!
We think most insurance companies will do well, especially given they are likely to raise interest rates at a time when the public wants more insurance. My favorite is METTROPOLITAN LIFE (MET), which is not only cleaning its Grand Central HQ, but also bought a billion dollars worth of securities circa the September 21 bottom.  Other favorites include Aegon (AEG) and Allstate (ALL). All are likely to yield a more than a respective 10% plus return over the next 12 months.

4. “Stock markets climb a wall of worry, and this wall has plenty of worries”
Peter Green, editor, Green on Money
HW: Sounds like a long term buy signal to me!

"The two-month decline in the index [LEI- Leading Economic Indicators] suggests that the already-weak economy is likely to remain weak into next year.”
Ken Goldstein, economist, Conference Board

“While continuing to show weakness and the onset of a recession, it was not as bad as expected. This leads you to believe that the policies of lower interest rates and the fiscal policies will start to help the economy or have a greater chance of helping the economy in 2002.''
Barry Hyman, chief investment strategist, Ehrenkrantz King Nussbaum
HW: The second half of what you say is true. However, the 3Q GDP drop was much worse than the preliminary

5. What a little Moonlight can do .

Does a lunar cycle affect market averages ?

6. READER: Re: A special Wall Street, Next Week Offer 3 years for the price of two!
Oh, the suspense!!  So what’s the good new? What are you buying in this pull back?
HW:  We continue to like gold and hotel Reits like MHX, may add to CLN and XRX, and whatever shows itself after tomorrow’s and Friday’s numbers.  Also looking to BA as a possible buy at 32 OB.

READER: You said you may be trading gold.  Are you looking to buy Dec. gold futures?  If so, is this a good area, or do you expect a bit lower?
HW: I believe 278 or better is good.  However, may wait until Tuesday-Wednesday, as we are about to have a victory.  275 is strong support if you only want one entry. However, it may not go that low.

READER: I did not receive a Wall Street Next Week this week.  Were they sent out?  Please advise.
HW: This was sent early Friday. I sent you another. Please note you can always go to our premium channels on our website and use your name and password to view the current issue.

READER: Pardon my ignorance, but what are SD and SR?
HW: Stationary Direct and Stationary Retrograde.

READER: Is CLN looking OK re survival?? You said you may purchase more end of year.
HW: Given three recent brokerage buys with an 18th month target of $2, I presume they will more than survive. It is true two of the houses were also hired as their investment bankers, but we all know there is a Chinese wall between investment banking and the brokerage side of the business! I still like their story and may buy more in some accounts.

READER: Do you know when IHI.V* will transfer from the venture exchange to a more legitimate one and if so, what exchange they will be on or are planning to be listed on? (US/Canada/Nasdaq/TSE)?
HW: I presume it will be the TSE or the senior Canadian exchange. As to when, I would hope around February.

READER: I became aware of IHI through your web site and currently have IHI* stock (I think their public relations firm is doing an abysmal job of getting them noticed; why else would the stock still be so low this close to actual production?).
HW: The answer I believe is more  “trapped shorts”.

READER: I believe that Stox.com is one of your corporate clients. Could you please tell me what happened to their website. I can no longer access the site.
HW:  No, they are not currently one of our corporate clients. They discontinued the use of our services last year.  Their website is currently down as I believe their assets were seized for non-payment of debt.  It is a pity as it was the service I used for my Canadian feeds up until the beginning of October.

READER: I like your site and most of your opinions, but I don't think you should be giving people advice on how to profit from war and defense stocks. Making money off human suffering and killing is never right.
HW:  I agree somewhat, but making money from the security sector, which is more than just war/defense industries and a necessary evil these days, is not wrong for all investors.  If you read our AFUND website, we were rather discrete in our 2002 forecasts by stating as one key aspect of the Saturn-Pluto aspect: “Watch security and defense to move to center stage. Consider yourself warned and act appropriately.” I am sure we are both hopeful of a relatively quick victory and a further transformation of human consciousness away from just the ego “I” (Saturn) to the global “we” (Pluto).  Please read THE 911 STORY PART I for more of my views on this important topic.
