FINANCIAL ASTROLOGY FOR THE SUCCESSFUL INVESTOR AND TRADER

1. JULY ASTRODATES
2. MARKETS
3. UP STARS/DOWN STARS
4. ASTRONUT
5. QUOTES
6. ON THE WEB
7. LETTERS

1. July 5 Lunar Eclipse 11:04am and Venus enter Gemini
July 12 Mercury and Jupiter enter Cancer
July 19 Mars SD
July 20 New Moon 3:44pm
July 22 Sun enters Leo

2. ONE MORE TIME? RAISE CASH LEVELS – TRADE MORE
Current odds are 42% for a 50-bp cut June 26-27 with more than half of the economists surveyed anticipating a 25-basis-point cut instead. My advice to Alan: do .50%. You already blew it last time by not doing .25 as I suggested. This is your sixth and last important bullet. Best to shoot it ALL now and then retrace in the Fall, as needed.

If Alan cuts .50 again, BUY GOLD;
If Alan cuts .25, place trading stops and/or sell short and intermediate term positions;
If Alan doesn’t cut again, join the selling.

ALL THE NEWS THAT IS FIT TO PRINT
The NY Times is cutting its workforce by 8% to 9% this year. Are they really that overstaffed? I doubt it. This is yet another confirmation for our forecast of an early 21st century ROBOT shortage. Given great market uncertainty both for investors and professionals alike, reading the NY Times may not be able to help as much in the future. My recommendation? RAISE CASH LEVELS – TRADE MORE

Note: I will be in Vancouver until Canada Day July 1:
The next WSNW will be issued late next Monday assuming American Airlines is not on strike.

June 28, Mercury is going SD. The big question is what will investors be thinking after that?

KEYDATES: June 26, 27, 28
DJIA: R1 10900 R2 11,000
NASDAQ: R1 2170 R2 2250
US DOLLAR Continue distribution
EURO: Continue long term accumulation

3. Rockwell [ROK] seems to be on the few US manufacturers that knows HOW to forecast: Rockwell does not expect a rebound until the second half of 2002. We rate this a long term buy to accumulate on weakness under $37.15. Our 12-18 month target is 50.

PLAY IT AGAIN SAM: Honeywell (HON) is worth at least $40.  It is also a good match for UTX, (a better fit than GE).  We see this as a repeating short term trading buy 37 OB and a reasonable intermediate investment 35 OB for “old fashioned” i.e., patient investors.

3. Australians are consuming less alcohol and smoking fewer cigarettes than they were 10 years ago, but there has been an increase in the use of marijuana, according to a recent report by the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare. Australia ranked 19th for per capita consumption of alcohol at 7.6 litres of pure alcohol per person per year. To date we have ignored Luxembourg, not realizing it was first-ranked with 13.3 litres of pure alcohol per person. Given we rate Australia an out perform in 2002, how can we continue to ignore this Duchy? Ominously, I learned the Luxembourg stock exchange began trading in 1929. Current trading can be viewed on the net at Bourse de Luxembourg. [http://www.bourse.lu/english/marche/en_cours.html] Their most active stock is SES FDR, which at first glance looks like it could be worth accumulating 150 OB. Also of artistic interest is Artemis Fine Arts - European Paintings Drawings Watercolors, which currently looks like a long term investing buy. I plan to continue reviewing more of the major Luxembourg companies at the Trader'$ Café, where drink prices vary during the evening according to supply and demand. If a beverage is repeatedly ordered, i.e. the demand for this beverage rises, so will its price! If I get bored and miss the market, I can always trade drinks with other customers.

Thursday’s solar eclipse, which we believe will be of potential benefit to the UK/Ireland and Japan is a portent of more turmoil in Zimbabwe according to many healers, or witchdoctors. They believe last Thursday's total eclipse over northeastern Zimbabwe was a bad omen signaling anger by tribal spirits at a nation and its leaders who abandoned traditional African values of peace and harmony.

"The gods are not happy," said Peter Sibanda, deputy head of the Zimbabwe National Traditional Healers Association. Known in the local Shona language as "kuwora kwezuva," or the rotting of the Sun, the eclipse would be the harbinger of more incurable illness such as AIDS, more deaths of prominent people and further natural calamities, he said. We don’t disagree and continue to maintain our long term AVOID rating.

4. ''It's still a high-wire act we are walking, between a soft and a hard landing.''
Sohn Won Sung, chief economist, Wells Fargo Bank
HW: A lot depends on Alan’s next move.

"If you believe in fundamentals and you believe in sound money and monetary conditions and you believe there are (economic) problems down the line, you want to be in gold and gold stocks.
John Mesrobian, president, Constantinople Advisors
HW: I believe, I believe.

“I don’t know what would trigger a run on the dollar, but it is wildly overvalued. If someone wakes up and says the emperor has no clothes, something will hit the fan.”
Peter Bernstein Economics and Portfolio Strategy
HW: I would be watching for Mars oppositions to the asteroid Merde when in an air sign. If you don’t have the ephemeris for this, just diversify your portfolio internationally more.

5. “At the very bottoms of the 1929 and 1987 stock market crashes, Congress held meeting upon meetings to question and pontificate as to how the crash was allowed to happen. Now, this month, they're taking on the question of how and why analysts didn't warn investors about last year's bear market. They just love to put on their fire hats and arrive on the scene with their hoses after the building has already burned to the ground!

A Congressional inquiry and investigation is one of the greatest markings of a market bottom. I've been here before. The mood is the same as it was after the 1987 crash---dazed and confused. It's time to buy, not indiscriminately, but across all asset classes to balance portfolios. Institutional portfolios are doing just that, slowly and deliberately.”
Bruce Tanis, Private Client Group, CIBC Oppenheimer

6. HEAVEN HELP THE EURO [http://forums.ft.com/2/OpenTopic?a=tpc&s=646099322&f=451094803&m=7390966562]
“If you want the Euro to recover- pray” Sir Edward George, governor of the Bank of England
What’s Your prayer for the Euro? Not content with religion, the Dutch will put free Euro coins in everyone’s pocket before the changeover. This is a part of their plan to ensure a quicker changeover to the euro than planned by any other country. Is this a negative commentary on the Guilder or a positive one on the Euro? We are unsure.

7. READER: Is today a lunar or solar eclipse? Any astrological significance to it occurring on the summer solstice?
HW: Today [6/21/2001] is solar, two weeks from now is Lunar. Occurring on the summer solstice makes it more powerful.

READER: What does the eclipse mean for stocks?
HW: It depends on which stocks and stock markets. It is obviously a very BIG astrological event as it comes on the Summer Solstice and is followed next Thursday by Mercury SD, the Thursday after by a Lunar Eclipse and the third after by Mercury/Jupiter entering Cancer (US Horoscope Sign) and the Thursday after by Mars SD.
Translation: Wear trader’s diapers every Thursday to work.

Now to your question, it depends on where and how the eclipse falls in a particular stock’s horoscope.
Some very weak stocks that are aspected could fall out of bed and maker shorters extremely happy. However, this one suggests a pivot move for the broad market. Our trading advice is to follow the opening trend ALL day. We haven’t had a day like that for a while. Which way? We think UP at this point (but Japan and the 8:30 report should clarify that).

READER: All of the world economies are so tied together now.... this trade war cycle sure seems to be rearing it's ugly head... as most recent EU action probably killing GE/HON deal reminds us of Smoot-Hawley Tariffs 1930.
HW: This gives traders opportunities for quick profits by buying HON on dips to 36-37 and selling at 40.

READER: I am up 24% on Homestake Mining (HM). Many analysts are saying hold. You seem to continue to favor gold with your recent reco to buy Placer Dome. Should I continue to hold, or sell?
HW: My recommendation is a watchful hold. I would use a trailing stop starting at about 6.40 and gradually raise it .10 for each .20 of positive movement on close. If stopped out, buy again next week.

READER: Seems to me you haven't been very talkative about ccaf and ihitf lately? Pls advise.
HW: CCCAF is currently not trading on an active exchange. As for IHITF*, we would ONLY repeat our selves. How many times can I say I love it (with disclaimers)? However, I have mentioned it in some recent WSNW issues basically saying that it continues to be my favorite aggressive speculation with my usual disclaimer.

READER: What is your 2002 target on IHI?
HW: Higher than it is now. After our visit to IHI’s AGM next week, we may issue a more price target.

READER: Another stock I am watching is NYSE:IP INTERNATIONAL PAPER. If the US Dollar does begin to top out, IP should benefit....paper, as well as other commodity stocks have to go up.
HW: Except paper prices are falling and should continue to be weak for some time.

I have also bought in the open market for clients and myself. Naturally I am MOST eager to see them become VERY successful.
